LUMEN™ by Guglielmo is designed to make all Wi-Fi™ networks roamable in order to be available for a larger number of potential users.
All wireless application by Guglielmo™ are based on a AAA (Authorization, Authentication and Accounting) management system named LUMEN (Limited Users Management Engine), developed by Guglielmo.
Lumen is a unique platform for easy and most effective management of geographic wireless network.
Access Management:
The access to a Wi-Fi™ network and its functionality are managed by Lumen.
Therefore any infrastructure Wi-Fi™ Certified may be used to provide Internet connectivity with different policies as chosen by the provider.
Lumen system embedded the whole Hardware and Software elements to manage the access to the Internet by wireless.
LUMEN includes these basic software elements:

Lumen is the ultimate tool for account creating.
It has been developed to face with the main user requirements.
Account expired removing with session recording and archiving.
Monthly account archiving for all connections started by the Lumen managed network.
Daily scheduled updating to provide the best evaluation for whether expired or residual account.
It provides all statistics information about the usage of the Lumen managed network.
Lumen system is always connected to all equipments involved in the network, therefore it makes a constant monitoring of functionality and it provides alarms due to any warning and failure.
Management Server:
Management server is Radius protocol based for user authentication
while the whole list of user group information such as username and password,
archives etc. are saved as .MDB Microsoft Access© Standard files.
Wireless Gateway:
All the Radius information from user to authentication server are managed through the wireless gateway.
Furthermore, thanks to the dynamic address translation and outgoing mail forwarding (SMTP), no additional software or changing device settings are required to the user.
Additional Services :
Additional services such as dedicated Welcome Page forwarding, allow to provide a fully customized service.
Authentication via SMS to access Wi-Fi™
LUMEN with SMS represents a very reliable system because of its valuable elements
for the location owner as well as the end user.
To gain access the user will receive a SMS with username and password.
The system has been designed in order that user cannot be able to receive more than one SMS for every mobile number, that's because every number must not be linked to more than one username and password.

In order to gain access to Wi-Fi™ network it’s mandatory identify all users as required by DL 144/05; because of it Guglielmo made a brand new product that allows to get all data by scanning the code bar of the user’s voucher.
All information may be easily linked to user’s credentials by the innovative web-based system developed by Guglielmo for this specific application.
Reports and Statistics:
Through the interaction between upper mentioned applications and system database, properly scheduled and saved into the logs registers, all the functionality and the automatic archiving are guaranteed and harmonized as well as all the information about allowed connections.
Moreover any expired account is saved as Microsoft Excel© Standard file that includes all the information about any single connection, it allows the system to provide all data user in the easier and faster way.
Online viewer system for statistics is also available, it provides all the data for single or group hot spot rather than for zone area.
Security and Privacy:
Security and functionality issues are guaranteed by SSL service connection and SNMP protocol for signal traps forwarding and network management.
LUMEN is fully compliant to Italian rules
D.L. n.144/2005 (about illegal usage of the Internet) and to D.L. 196/2004 (about privacy).
Scalability:
Lumen has a huge scalability and it’s one of the main features of the system, it means the capability to increase gradually the system performance and the number of potential users.
Due to its patented “Zone Area Architecture”, Lumen may be implemented in parallel with several Zone Area Server, interaction between these and Guglielmo™ Web Server optimizes accounting and authentication, thanks to database access sharing.
